Tiptoe Cottage is well located at the head of the Looe valley, just 7 miles from the coast, yet centrally placed in south east Cornwall, allowing access to a wide variety of amenities.
Less than a mile from the historic centre of Liskeard (walk to pubs and restaurants, supermarket etc) and the main A38 trunk road; equally quick to travel west to St Austell and the world famous Eden Project, or the Lost Gardens of Heligan, Bodmin (for the Camel cycle trail to Padstow), or east to the glorious beaches of the Rame peninsular, the Tamar valley and Plymouth.
Just half a mile from Liskeard main line railway station, why not leave the car at home for the day and catch the scenic train to the historic naval port of Plymouth to visit its Maritime museum and Aquarium. Or take the train further down into Cornwall for a day out at Newquay or to visit the Tate gallery at St Ives. The pretty local branch line which follows the river from Liskeard to Looe allows a carefree and car-free day at the beach.
Walkers will be spoilt for choice, with fabulous options all around - we will be happy to share our personal favourites. The south west coastal path is stunning, the rugged scenery of Bodmin Moor is close at hand, with its industrial heritage and Poldark interest. The beauty spot of Golitha Falls provides a spectacular yet peaceful spot for a picnic, even in the height of summer. Siblyback reservoir provides a well maintained and level walking circuit, as well as the option of various watersports. Dartmoor is just 40 minutes away.
There are a number of good local cycle routes, with the Caradon trail going right past our door. There are nearby cycle hire shops, in Liskeard, Lanhydrock cycle hub, at Pensilva on Bodmin Moor where ebikes will help take the strain, Mount Edgecumbe and at Bodmin from where you may access the popular Camel trail to Padstow.
